| Memo to Crickhowell Tesco
Express Project Group. Tesco require a speedy response on this one. We need to find out public opinion about the possibility of a Tesco Express opening up in Crickhowell. Step 1: Select your Team Leader or Project Manager (PM for short). The PM can allocate tasks fairly and can make sure everyone's ideas are considered and that we work as a team. If there is a dispute the PM can decide the matter. Step 2: We need an agreed methodology to collect the required data - so that we all proceed in the same way and consider the same things - how are we going to do this? Let me know your team's suggestions. We'll have to make a list of possible persons to interview. Remember the initial brief from Tesco: |
| We would like you approach several leading figures from the Crickhowell local community and conduct an interview with them to test whether they may support our proposal or to recognise in advance that this may be a more complex problem likely to pose challenges and problems. We would be interested to receive suggestions of how this proposal could be made more generally acceptable to the Community if resistance to the general idea of a Tesco Express store is identified. | ||||
| Step 3: We need to identify our target person and get them to agree in principle to the idea - perhaps setting up a date and time to meet. We can probably finish in about 10 minutes of their time. We could record our conversation electronically on a dictaphone so we don't have to write when we meet them. We need to plan our questions carefully. We don't want to all target the same person - perhaps you could target someone connected to your particular site. | ||||
| We want to ask them things they can talk about like opinions [Why do you say that you be against a Tesco Express store opening in Crickhowell] (and not things we could research for ourselves such as 'how big is an average Tesco Express store, how many opened in Wales in 2009 and when did the first one open in the UK' - unless we were talking to someone representing Tesco.) | ||||
| Is there one person we'd all like to speak to? We could invite then into school to speak to all of us. Otherwise let's check we are not targeting the same person twice. | ||||
| So make a list of open questions you might ask your 'target' interviewee. 10 questions maximum. Perhaps using a grid like this... | ||||
| Step 4: Having arranged an interview. Undertake the interview. Remember to follow the RPS Risk Assessment procedures to the letter. | ||||
| Step 5: Process the data from the interview. Do we want to use quotes from it to support the points we make from our questionnaire data? | ||||
| Step 6: Do we want to interview someone else with an opposing view? Can we use any quotes in our group presentation? | ||||
| Hope this sounds like a positive
way forward Algernon A. Pratt Managing Director - Crickhowell Tesco Express Project Group. RPS. |
